Wastelands is the sixth track and the third single from Linkin Park's sixth studio album The Hunting Party. It was released on June 1, 2014 Sirius XM Radio stations on airplay and the day after as a promotional single. Wastelands is in the 2015 game, Guitar Hero Live. Wastelands also has a reference to John Lennon's "Power to the People" in the lyric "John with no Yoko; More power, less people".
Composition[]
Wastelands features heavy drum and bass, a catchy chorus and a heavy breakdown in the middle section. The song will go on hand for Mike Shinoda's hip-hop side project "Fort Minor" fans as Mike Shinoda lays down a great rhyme pattern on top of the drum beats and distorted guitar riffs, followed by a chorus with its lyrics themed around a post-apocalyptic scenario. Its outro continues towards the next album track "Until It's Gone."
